A range of pick up and play team based challenges. These are booked out when on site, on the day subject to availability. They are all Leader led.

Geocaching

We have installed a trail that we hope is fun and challenging. This is a free non book activity.

Challenge for all ages.

Blind folds are available from the challenge hut and booked through the warden or you can use neckers! either way this fun blind fold trail is available on the east side of our site.

Slacklining

A great activity for all ages. We kindly ask that you pre book this activity.

Assault course

A basic low intensity fun course which you can add your own items to make it unique to you. No pre booking required but recommend liaising with others on site to reduce any time clashes.

Axe throwing

Actually, tomahawks to be precise. A great activity that once mastered provides great pleasure. Pre booking required

Target shooting

Ross Wood has a purpose built 25ft range. Using 1.77 air rifles users can develop their skills and accuracy in the sport. Pre booking required.

Archery

Ross Wood has a purpose built 20m range with four bosses. It offers a good level of participation from the first time user through to competent junior level. Pre booking required.

Prusiking

Using a mountaineering rope rescue technique, users can ascend a rope high into the trees. There is currently limited availability for this activity, early pre booking is recommended.

Crate stacking

A favourite for all ages. Pre booking required.

Hiking

With 120 miles of paths and bridleways, The Blean is ideal for hikes and expedition training.

Mountain biking

In Partnership with The Canterbury Bike Project - Pre booking required.

The Canterbury Bike Project aims to improve the lives of young people and help in the community. Their cycle workshop in the heart of the city is free to attend for young people. The project has renovated 30 bikes housed at Ross Wood for the benefit of the youth Groups who use our campsite.

D of E

Ideal for Bronze Award.

Ross Wood lends itself well to groups who want to use it as a base for DofE practice or assessed Bronze level expeditions. There are several figure of eight routes providing a varied two day experience using Rosswood as the setup, overnight stay and finish location.
